During the 2026 Spring Festival, domestic AI models aggressively competed through various initiatives, from offering red packet rewards to launching new products and engaging in intensive marketing during the Spring Festival Gala. Recent data from Weibo highlights the scale of this AI competition. Throughout the Spring Festival period (February 1 to February 18), over 371 trending topics related to major AI models appeared on the Weibo platform, generating 12.7 billion views and nearly 26.9 million interactions. Qwen generated the highest number of trending topics, with 190 related entries. The Qwen app also surged to the top of Apple's free app chart and has remained relatively stable within the top five. Yuanbao was associated with 53 hot search topics, while Doubao's collaboration with the Spring Festival Gala generated 42, significantly fewer than Qwen. However, Seedance's strong association with Doubao also contributed substantial additional traffic. When the Yuanbao red packet campaign launched, it briefly reached number one on Apple's free chart but has since fallen beyond the top 20. Doubao's tie-up with the Spring Festival Gala proved highly effective, and the app has now reclaimed the top position on Apple's free app ranking. The trending topics clearly indicate that the Spring Festival AI competition primarily revolved around the three main players: Qwen, Doubao, and Yuanbao. Beyond this three-way contest, discussions also emerged around the DeepSeek model upgrade and news about Kimi's funding round. The latest Apple free app rankings are: Doubao at number one, Qwen at number two, Ant's Afu at number four, and Yuanbao at twenty-fifth. Additional Spring Festival performance reports from the companies include: Qwen recently announced that during the festival, it assisted users in placing nearly 200 million "one-click orders," meaning approximately one in ten people in the country used Qwen for this purpose. This included successfully helping over 4 million users aged 60 and above place orders. On February 17, Doubao's official account revealed that during the New Year's Eve broadcast of the China Media Group Spring Festival Gala, it distributed over 100,000 tech gifts and cash red packets to viewers nationwide, helped generate more than 50 million festive profile pictures, and composed over 100 million greeting messages. Total AI interactions reached 1.9 billion, with the Doubao large model's peak TPM (tokens processed per minute) reaching approximately 63.3 billion. On February 18, Tencent announced that Yuanbao's daily active users exceeded 50 million, while its monthly active users have reached 114 million. A report released by Tencent the previous day on the Yuanbao "Share 1 Billion Cash Red Packets" campaign showed that the main festival event page accumulated over 3.6 billion lottery draws and completed more than 1 billion AI-assisted creations.
