Bank of China Appoints President Zhang Hui as Concurrent Chief Compliance Officer

On February 13, Bank of China announced a board resolution approving the proposal for Mr. Zhang Hui to concurrently serve as the bank's Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. Zhang will assume the additional role effective from the date of the board's approval.

According to his resume, Mr. Zhang Hui was born in 1972. He began serving as Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Bank of China in January 2025, and assumed the role of President of Bank of China in December 2024. Starting February 2025, he concurrently serves as Vice Chairman of BOC Hong Kong (Holdings) Limited. From February 2026, he additionally holds the position of Chief Compliance Officer of Bank of China. He joined Bank of China in 2024.

From February 2021 to November 2024, Mr. Zhang served as Vice President of China Development Bank. Prior to that, he worked at Bank of Communications for many years. From July 2020 to November 2020, he served as Chief Risk Officer of Bank of Communications. Between February 2019 and November 2020, he held the positions of General Manager of the Risk Management Department and Director of the Internal Control and Case Prevention Office at Bank of Communications. From February 2017 to February 2019, he was General Manager of the Risk Management Department (Asset Preservation Department) at Bank of Communications. He served as President of the Guizhou Provincial Branch of Bank of Communications from November 2016 to February 2017.

Earlier in his career, he held various positions at Bank of Communications, including Assistant General Manager, Deputy General Manager, Deputy General Manager (presiding over work), and General Manager of the Asset Preservation Department; Deputy General Manager of the Risk Management Department (Asset Preservation Department); Vice President of the Shanghai Branch; and Vice President of the Guizhou Provincial Branch (acting on behalf of the President). Mr. Zhang graduated from Shaanxi Institute of Finance and Economics (now Xi'an Jiaotong University) in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in economics.
