During the golden autumn season, fields across the landscape glow with gold, and the joy of harvest blankets the farmlands of Shuimogou Township. On October 8, the replanted corn in Shuimogou Township reached its maturity and harvesting period, with vast stretches of cornfields bearing abundant, plump kernels and busy scenes of harvest filling the fields, achieving the excellent result of "winter wheat plus autumn corn" double cropping and double grain harvest in a single year.
To maximize the activation of land resources, improve land utilization rates, and broaden channels for increasing people's income, Shuimogou Township has adhered to an agricultural development approach of stabilizing grain production, ensuring harvests, improving quality, and boosting efficiency since the beginning of this year. The township has scientifically optimized its planting structure and vigorously promoted the post-wheat corn replanting model. After the summer harvest wrapped up, the township seized the critical agricultural time window, guiding farmers to carry out seamless operations of wheat harvesting, straw return to the field, and no-till seeding, efficiently completing the replanting of corn and fully utilizing the remaining light and temperature resources of summer and autumn to let idle farmland "generate gold a second time."
During the planting process, technical personnel from the township's Agricultural Development Service Center went down to the fields, providing technical guidance throughout and offering hands-on instruction to farmers on key steps such as drip irrigation, scientific fertilization, green pest and disease control, and field weeding and management. This effectively ensured balanced growth and stable, bountiful yields of the replanted corn. Currently, the mature corn stalks and leaves remain green, the cobs are large and full, and the kernels are dense and plump. Farmers are taking advantage of the clear weather to seize the favorable opportunity for harvesting, with mechanized harvesting advancing efficiently, saving time and labor while effectively reducing planting costs and improving autumn harvest efficiency.
The post-wheat corn replanting model has effectively revitalized land resources, achieved a double-season harvest of "one season of wheat, one season of corn," and further broadened channels for increasing farmers' income. Next, Shuimogou Township will continue to base itself on local agricultural resource advantages, continuously optimize the planting industry structure, vigorously promote efficient crop rotation models, and steadily enhance comprehensive grain production capacity. By stabilizing production capacity, ensuring harvests, and promoting income growth, the township will continue to firmly uphold the bottom line of food security and fully advance agricultural efficiency, farmer income growth, and higher-quality rural revitalization.
