During the National Day holiday, Terminal 2 of Zhengzhou Airport was decorated anew, with the red of national flags and colorful floral arrangements complementing each other everywhere, filling the space with a festive and celebratory atmosphere.

With travel demand for family visits and vacations highly concentrated, Zhengzhou Airport rolled out a series of practical measures to fully ensure a comfortable travel experience for passengers.

More Flights with Increased Frequency

According to preliminary statistics, during the seven-day National Day holiday, Zhengzhou Airport handled more than 4,300 inbound and outbound flights, with October 1 being the busiest day at approximately 660 flights.

During the holiday, popular destinations for passengers departing from Zhengzhou were mainly concentrated in South China, Southwest China, East China, and Northeast China.

Among the routes with the highest average daily departures from Zhengzhou Airport, Guangzhou led with approximately 17 flights, followed by Shenzhen with about 15 flights, Kunming and Chengdu with about 14 flights each, Urumqi and Shanghai with about 13 flights each, Xiamen with about 12 flights, Haikou with about 11 flights, Harbin with about 8 flights, and Sanya with about 7 flights, forming the main travel arteries during the holiday.

Front-Loaded Services for Warmer Passenger Experience

During the holiday, Zhengzhou Airport focused on passenger travel needs and introduced targeted measures to make warm services visible and tangible.

As the first step for passengers boarding flights, check-in services were enhanced with additional counters for special passengers, group passengers, and late-arriving passengers during peak flight periods.

In response to the concentrated passenger flow during National Day, on-site guidance was strengthened to shorten passenger waiting times.

"It was my first time flying with my child, and I was worried about the paperwork, but there were service staff guiding us the whole time. From check-in to boarding, I didn't have to worry about anything," said Ms. Wang, a passenger traveling with her daughter.

Special passenger services were further upgraded. Zhengzhou Airport upgraded its special passenger service application system, optimizing the service chain from application to paperwork to security screening guidance; provided exclusive lounges and free shuttle "Love Yellow Carts" to create a one-stop, full-process experience; and renovated the unaccompanied minor lounge with books, building blocks, indoor hockey, and other facilities, featuring a reading corner and game area, giving children a "mini wonderland" while waiting for flights.

Late-arriving passengers were a key focus of holiday support. Zhengzhou Airport dynamically added late-arriving check-in counters and opened green channels during peak hours, coordinated shuttle bus pickups in advance, and optimized the support chain by time period and area based on passenger arrival times and gate locations, making every effort to help late-arriving passengers board in time.

Security screening was also strengthened. The security area moved pre-check reminders forward, with patrol officers educating passengers in the waiting area about regulations for carrying power banks and other electronic devices; expedited channels were set up nearby with immediate diversion upon detection; and proactive screening guidance was provided for first-time flyers, student groups, and family groups, helping passengers with mobility difficulties pass through security smoothly.

The 96666 service hotline also entered "holiday mode." Zhengzhou Airport increased customer service staffing to shorten passenger wait times; promptly recorded and followed up on suggestions and feedback received on-site and by phone to meet passengers' reasonable requests.

Cultural Enrichment for a More Poetic Journey

Beyond essential support, Zhengzhou Airport used culture as a bridge to make journeys warmer. Terminal 2 added multiple National Day decorative door stickers and hung national flags, and featured chrysanthemum-themed floral decorations in landscapes, lobbies, and corridors, using the elegance of chrysanthemums to enhance the atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day double celebration.

During the National Day period, the "Beautiful Airport, Zhengzhou Together" themed cultural event, which began before the Mid-Autumn Festival, continued to be held. The "Double Festival Elegant Gathering" market in the departure hall of Terminal 2 brought together "Xiangyunduan" aviation cultural creative products, Henan Museum collaborative merchandise, and intangible cultural heritage handicrafts, along with coffee, tea, specialty souvenirs, and imported duty-free goods, transforming waiting time into a relaxed and pleasant exhibition tour.

"I was worried about being bored while waiting for my flight, but I didn't expect to be able to stroll around the airport. My child didn't even want to leave after seeing the souvenirs," said Mr. Chen, a passenger traveling with his family, with a smile.

Zhengzhou Airport warmly reminds passengers that they can check flight status through airline official websites, apps, or the Zhengzhou Airport 24-hour service hotline 0371-96666, pay attention to weather conditions in Zhengzhou and at destinations, allow sufficient time for check-in procedures, and arrange their itineraries reasonably.
