The movement follows a series of landmark nuclear power purchase agreements. The company previously signed a 20-year power supply agreement with Amazon covering 690 MW from its Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant in Maryland, including 190 MW of new carbon-free capacity expected online between 2030 and 2032. Separately, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is reportedly close to finalizing a multi-year nuclear power deal valued at more than $1 billion with Constellation Energy, further validating the scarcity value of nuclear power as a zero-carbon baseload resource.
Within the Electric Utilities sector, performance was mixed. NextEra gained 0.08%, Southern rose 1.76%, Duke fell 0.03%, PG&E Corp added 0.49%, and American Electric Power advanced 0.21%.
