To further standardize the market order for contact lenses and orthokeratology lenses and ensure consumer eye safety, the Pukou District Market Supervision Bureau has recently organized a safety inspection initiative. This inspection aims to effectively understand the operational status of enterprises engaged in the trade of these lenses within the jurisdiction.
During this process, law enforcement personnel conducted a comprehensive assessment of the contact lens and orthokeratology lens businesses in the area. They prioritized verifying the validity of business qualifications, adherence to purchasing inspection record protocols, regular calibration of vision-testing equipment, and proper maintenance of purchase and sales records, among other requirements.
Based on this groundwork, officials implemented thorough inspections across all regulated entities. To date, a total of 25 businesses have been inspected, involving 50 personnel in the evaluation process. Among these, 12 enterprises hold a "Medical Device Trading License" that includes the trade of contact lenses, and 2 possess the license for orthokeratology lenses (OK lenses), along with 7 other types of businesses and 4 medical institutions.
During the inspections, several enterprises were found lacking in detailed purchasing inspection records. On-site corrective measures were suggested, and these businesses were ordered to rectify within a stipulated timeframe. Through various channels, both online and offline, the bureau has been educating contact lens and orthokeratology lens trading businesses about regulations such as the "Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Medical Devices", the "Administrative Measures for Medical Device Trading", and the "Quality Management Standards for Medical Device Trading". This includes urging these businesses to enhance training for key personnel, including major responsible individuals and quality management staff, thereby promoting a continual improvement in legal awareness, responsibility, and quality consciousness within enterprises.
Looking ahead, the Pukou District Market Supervision Bureau will maintain its stringent oversight in the contact lens sector, rigorously combat illegal activities, and continually standardize market order to protect public safety in the use of medical devices.
