FUDANZHANGJIANG (01349) announced the successful enrollment of the first participant in a Phase I clinical study for its investigational drug, injectable FZ-P001 sodium. The trial is evaluating the agent for intraoperative visualization of malignant lesions in ovarian cancer. FZ-P001 sodium is a novel chemical entity, classified as a Category 1 new chemical drug, independently developed by the company. It functions as an innovative photosensitizer whose active ingredient is a conjugate of a folate receptor-targeted small molecule and a cyanine-based photosensitizer. This design allows the compound to target malignant tumor tissues with high expression of folate receptor alpha (FRα) and provide fluorescence imaging in the near-infrared spectrum. Among the three major gynecological malignancies, ovarian cancer has the highest mortality rate, posing a serious threat to women's health. The company plans to utilize this drug to develop intraoperative fluorescence guidance technology. This technology aims to indicate residual malignant tumor tissue and assess surgical margin status, with the goal of improving the effectiveness of surgical resection for relevant solid tumors. It is intended to provide an innovative solution for precision navigation surgery in oncology, combining molecular targeting specificity with multi-dimensional biological sensing.
