The 2026 summer travel season has officially concluded, bringing with it a wave of strong performance data for Beijing's major aviation hub.

Official figures from Beijing Daxing International Airport show that international and regional passenger traffic reached 1,123,600 during the period, a year-on-year increase of 2.23%, reflecting robust growth across its network.

To handle the surge, the airport strategically expanded its flight offerings, ensuring smooth connectivity for millions of travelers.

During the season, Daxing Airport handled a total of 67,800 flights, carrying 10.99 million passengers. This translated to a daily average of 1,093 flights and 177,200 passengers, representing increases of 11.47% and 14.9% respectively.

Both July and August set new all-time monthly records for passenger volume since the airport began operations.

August was particularly strong, with total flight numbers reaching 32,600 and passenger numbers hitting 5.7 million. A notable milestone was reached on July 21, when the airport recorded 1,255 takeoffs and landings in a single day, the highest single-day figure since operations began.

In response to the distinct travel patterns of the summer season, Daxing Airport worked closely with partner airlines to add capacity and better serve a variety of passenger needs, including student holiday travel, summer sightseeing, family visits, and business trips.

On the domestic front, the airport introduced or increased frequency on more than 50 new routes, including connections to Hotan, Bijie, Changsha, Guiyang, Harbin, Guilin, Lanzhou, and Hulunbuir.

For international and regional services, a new route linking Beijing Daxing to Bali was launched, while flights to Russia were expanded to a weekly frequency of 70.

These new and enhanced routes have significantly broadened Daxing Airport's network, strengthening its role as a key gateway connecting China with the rest of the world and providing convenient, efficient air travel options for summer passengers.
