Ahead of its seventh anniversary, Daxing Airport has rolled out a full suite of service upgrades. From speedier security checks to intelligent customer support and enhanced overnight transfer experiences, the airport is systematically addressing the biggest pain points for travelers.
Speedier Security Checks: The days of fishing out laptops, tablets, and umbrellas from your bag during peak travel are fading. The Civil Aviation Administration's dedicated "Easy Security" fast lane, equipped with CT scanners for carry-on luggage and millimeter-wave gates, allows bags to pass through fully intact. Travelers typically only need to remove power banks, saving an average of about three minutes per person. Daxing Airport previously had two such lanes on the third floor's east and west sides. Now, a new lane has been added on the B1 floor at the rail transit interchange, bringing the total to three and covering all domestic security checkpoints, open daily from 6 AM to 8 PM. Passengers arriving by subway or the Beijing-Xiong'an intercity railway can now complete security checks directly on B1 without heading upstairs. Zuo Ming, a section chief at the airport's security branch, noted that the new B1 lane lets rail passengers get screened nearby—simply scanning their ID cards triggers all verification steps automatically, with no QR codes or manual checks needed. Travelers can book the "Easy Security" lane via Alipay within 48 hours before their flight. Since launching in October 2024, the lane has served over 1.4 million passengers.
Customer Service Goes Digital: Daxing Airport's new intelligent customer service system is now available to all travelers, having assisted 15,000 people during its pilot phase. At a B1 service counter, passenger Mr. Mao used a smart kiosk to instantly connect with a live agent on screen, praising the convenience. While the airport has eight manned service desks, they aren't staffed around the clock, leading to bottlenecks at night and during peak hours. Six intelligent kiosks have been placed in high-traffic areas of the domestic and international mixing zones to fill this gap. For standard questions about flight status, ground transportation, or security rules, passengers can get instant answers through the official app or mini-program's smart assistant. Li Pengju, a business manager at the terminal, explained that simple queries go to the AI bot while complex or personal issues are routed to human staff, boosting overall efficiency.
Overnight and Connecting Flights: Early morning departures, late-night arrivals, or long layovers used to mean uncomfortable nights at the airport. Daxing now offers options ranging from free to premium. Near Gate B21, over 20 recliners in a viewing lounge are nearly always occupied. One traveler, Mr. Su, said, "With a long layover, being able to recline is really comfortable." Another, Ms. Dang, added that for business travelers needing to handle urgent work, having such a spot is invaluable. The area features partition designs for privacy, charging ports and USB sockets, and a view of the tarmac's takeoffs and landings. Thirteen additional free rest zones with seats, recliners, and sofas are scattered across the terminal. For more privacy, the "economy reclining zone" near Gate A01 is open from 8 PM to 7 AM, starting at 20 yuan. Bookings can be made on-site via QR code or through the "Xingxian Song" mini-program. Chen Yuan, a terminal management supervisor, added that this year, new services like tent rentals have been introduced for families, with prices ranging from 20 to 129 yuan. The airport also offers massage chairs, sleep pods, timed rest rooms, and premium hotel options. From seamless transit to restful overnights, Daxing Airport is evolving into more than just a hub—it's becoming a warm haven in the dead of night.
