Japanese and South Korean Stock Markets Open Higher, Nikkei Rises 1.0% at Opening

Major stock markets in Japan and South Korea opened in positive territory on Monday.

The Nikkei 225 index started the trading session 1.0% higher at 70,774.28 points, with gains led by the electronics and metal sectors.

South Korea's benchmark KOSPI index also opened stronger, rising 1.4% to 8,591.50 points.
