On the morning of November 24, after three years of construction, the Fujiang Sixth Bridge in Suining officially opened to traffic.

As a key component of Suining's "3 Rings, 7 Horizontals, 7 Verticals" urban road network framework, the bridge efficiently connects three major areas—Hedong New District, the High-Speed Rail New Town, and the Old City—improving regional transportation efficiency and fostering deeper integration between the new and old northern districts while boosting local economic development.

"Previously, driving from home to the high-speed rail station took about 50 minutes. With the Fujiang Sixth Bridge, travel time is cut by at least half," said Liu Caijin, a resident of Hedong New District, who took a test drive on the newly opened bridge.

"Before, traffic between Hedong New District and the Old City mainly relied on the Tongde Bridge, Tongshan Bridge, and Guanyin Lake Tunnel, leading to congestion. Now, the Fujiang Sixth Bridge is expected to divert 30% of the traffic, easing pressure and improving efficiency," explained Zuo Zhiyuan, Deputy Director of Suining's Transportation Bureau.

Designed by Meng Fanchao, chief designer of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the Fujiang Sixth Bridge spans 3.215 kilometers, featuring a twin-tower, five-span concrete cable-stayed main bridge. Its innovative pylon structure, inspired by Suining's "Sacred Lotus" motif, adopts a petal-shaped steel-concrete hybrid design, embodying the cultural theme of "Lotus Elegance" and establishing itself as a new city landmark.

Currently, the main bridge, east-west approach bridges, and Dongping Avenue underpass tunnel have been completed and passed inspection. The remaining section from Binjiang Road to Suizhou Avenue is progressing steadily, with full traffic access expected before next year's Spring Festival. Meanwhile, construction on the High-Speed Rail New Town's Qianzhan Avenue is underway, with completion targeted for September 2026.
