OpenAI and Google Strike Deal to Expand Cloud Footprint

OpenAI will make its AI models and Codex programming tools available on Google Cloud, extending its reach to customers across the three major U.S. cloud providers, the companies said Wednesday. Google Cloud customers will be able to purchase OpenAI’s frontier models through Google’s Model Garden and Marketplace and apply existing cloud spend commitments.

OpenAI models will be integrated into Google’s Antigravity development environment and Gemini Agent, with features rolling out over the coming weeks.

The deal gives OpenAI another route to enterprise clients without separate vendor relationships and lets Google sell third-party models alongside Gemini, potentially capturing business that might otherwise go to rival cloud providers.
