On November 2, Guo Wenhai, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, spent his weekend visiting rural areas in Nanlang Subdistrict to promote the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and inspect the implementation of the "Hundreds of Thousands of Projects." He emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the plenary session, develop industries that strengthen towns, enrich residents, and revitalize villages according to local conditions, comprehensively improve rural landscapes, continuously enhance cultural empowerment, and advance the "Hundreds of Thousands of Projects" with higher quality to accelerate coordinated urban-rural development and common prosperity.
In Guantang Village, Guo inspected the management of rural housing styles, improvements in living environments, and the construction of public infrastructure, while also listening to reports on the cultivation and development of model villages. He noted that Guantang Village has achieved significant progress in housing style control and environmental improvement. He urged further efforts to protect and utilize historical buildings like watchtowers, enrich business formats, strengthen collective economies, and increase villagers' incomes to achieve new milestones in model village construction.
Zuobu Village, the ancestral home of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the hometown of renowned actress Ruan Lingyu, cartoonist Fang Cheng, and revolutionary Ouyang Chu, retains rich historical relics. Guo observed the village's scenery and historical buildings, learning about cultural preservation and rural tourism development. He interacted with cultural scholars and rural tourism operators, praising Zuobu Village's progress in landscape enhancement.
Guo highlighted that Zuobu Village boasts profound cultural heritage and unique natural scenery, making it ideal for agricultural and cultural tourism. He stressed the importance of cultural empowerment in the "Hundreds of Thousands of Projects," advocating deeper exploration of historical resources. Stories related to Sun Yat-sen, such as the Sun Family Ancestral Hall, Zhongxingli Gate, and ancient docks, should be highlighted, while Fang Cheng's cartoons could be displayed through murals, turning the village into an "experience center" for his art.
He called for accelerated integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism, improving supporting services like homestays and dining, and promoting joint development with Chongkou Village to attract visitors, boost vitality, and stimulate consumption. The goal is to establish Zuobu as a model village for the city and even the province, where new business formats and scenes become highlights of beautiful rural landscapes.
During the inspection, Guo discussed the implementation of the Fourth Plenary Session's spirit, rural revitalization, and high-quality development with officials and residents of Cuiheng New District (Nanlang Subdistrict). He urged Cuiheng New District to take on greater responsibilities, prioritize economic growth, and provide efficient, selfless services to enterprises. Joint efforts between the government and businesses are essential to achieving annual socio-economic targets.
He emphasized higher-quality execution of the "Hundreds of Thousands of Projects," enhancing village aesthetics, promoting agricultural and cultural tourism tailored to local conditions, and fostering balanced urban-rural development to ensure broader benefits for the public. Additionally, he stressed the need for comprehensive human development, stimulating cultural innovation, enriching cultural offerings, and meeting the spiritual and cultural needs of the people.
