Aspial subsidiary seeks AUD51 million damages from Queensland over land-title error

Aspial Corporation Limited announced on Nov, 13 2025 that its wholly owned unit, WCL (QLD) Albert St Pty Ltd, will commence legal action in the Supreme Court of Queensland against the State of Queensland and the Registrar of Titles.

WCL is claiming about AUD51 million plus interest after a court ruling found that one of two adjoining Brisbane lots it bought in 2014—recorded in the land-titles register as freehold—was actually a public road owned by the Crown. The error, attributed to the Registrar of Titles, forced the company to halt plans for a 91-storey residential and commercial development approved in 2016, leading to additional costs and expenditure.

Aspial said it does not expect the claim to have a material impact on the group’s results for the financial year ending Dec, 31 2025. The board will monitor the litigation and provide updates as needed, advising shareholders to exercise caution when dealing in the company’s securities.
