Recently, "Xiaomi air conditioner online sales surpass Gree" became a trending topic on Weibo.
On August 15th and 16th, Xiaomi executives Lu Weibing and Wang Hua successively shared AVC data indicating that Xiaomi air conditioner online sales had surpassed Gree Electric Appliances.
Wang Hua commented that "I didn't expect the new era to arrive so quickly." Lu Weibing stated, "Solid improvement in capabilities enables high-quality growth. Once again, thank you for supporting Xiaomi's major appliances."
In response, Gree Electric Appliances executives could not remain silent. On the evening of August 18th, Gree Electric Appliances Marketing Director Zhu Lei responded on Weibo to claims that Xiaomi air conditioner online sales had surpassed Gree, stating that according to AVC data, Gree air conditioners still led Xiaomi in the online market in July.
The screenshot shared by Lu Weibing showed Xiaomi air conditioners holding a 16.71% online sales market share, higher than Gree's 15.22%. However, the data queried by Zhu Lei showed Gree's market share at 16.41%, significantly higher than Xiaomi's 13.5%.
Current verification of AVC data confirms consistency with Zhu Lei's figures, showing Gree's market share at 16.41%, substantially higher than Xiaomi's 13.5%.
Regarding this discrepancy, the original poster "Xiaochun Ge XCG" who shared the information that Lu Weibing forwarded responded: "This issue occurred because AVC changed the statistical methodology of their data dashboard."
He emphasized that the screenshot data Lu Weibing shared at the time was indeed authentic, witnessed by many industry peers who also took screenshots, ruling out any data fabrication. "Industry professionals should all have access to this data, and major brands also subscribe to it. I didn't make up the data."
Currently, AVC's latest data aligns with the screenshots Gree Electric Appliances later released. The blogger stated uncertainty about whether such changes are frequent.
Attempts to contact AVC customer service for clarification on this matter have not received a response as of publication.
According to AVC's official website, Beijing AVC Big Data Technology Co., Ltd. is a big data comprehensive solution service provider focused on the smart home sector, offering data research and big data services to industry enterprises. Previously, AVC President Guo Meide stated in interviews that AVC has accumulated detailed retail data in home appliances and home furnishing for seventeen to eighteen years, which has become an important AI knowledge base, dedicated to solving industry-wide pain points for home appliance companies.
