Just ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Wuhu Xuancheng Airport has rolled out a new service upgrade. The security check lanes at gates 5 and 6 in the terminal have been fully renovated and officially began operating on September 24. The original single security lane has been converted into dual lanes, speeding up passenger screening, while supporting convenience facilities have also been updated simultaneously, ensuring efficient travel for passengers during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
Addressing the pain points of regional airports where passengers tend to cluster during peak hours and space is limited, this renovation strictly follows civil aviation security regulations, with all designs based on the actual travel needs of passengers.
The upgraded lanes feature a number of thoughtful changes: the new lanes are equipped with dedicated security basket transfer carts, replacing the previous practice of staff manually carrying empty baskets back and forth, which accelerates basket turnover efficiency and prevents untimely supply of empty baskets from disrupting the screening pace; the previously fixed passenger guidance counter has been replaced with an operating table embedded with ball bearings, allowing luggage to slide smoothly into the security scanner, greatly reducing luggage jams and the need for repeated dragging, so even heavy luggage can pass through the machine with ease.
Beyond throughput efficiency, the spatial feel and safety of the lanes have also been enhanced simultaneously. The previously fixed computer for open-bag inspections has been replaced with a liftable, hidden device that can be flexibly adjusted as needed during operation and fully retracted into the countertop when idle, freeing up lane space and eliminating hidden risks of equipment being exposed to bumps or falls, making security operations more standardized and safe.
In addition, the verification counter has been moved outward, and the luggage organization area has been expanded, giving passengers more spacious room for waiting and organizing their belongings, while also optimizing the working environment for staff.
To ensure the smooth operation of the new lanes, all security personnel have completed specialized training in advance on operating the new equipment and dual-lane workflow procedures, safeguarding the first line of defense for travel safety.
With the dual lanes in operation, two X-ray machines can simultaneously screen luggage, effectively alleviating the previous pressure of the single lane, improving overall security throughput capacity, and easing queuing congestion during peak hours, making passenger screening more efficient and smooth.
Going forward, the Security and Escort Department of Wuhu Xuancheng Airport will dynamically adjust staffing based on passenger flow changes, continuously optimize the screening process, and create a safe and comfortable travel experience for passengers.
