On the afternoon of March 20, the Secretary of the Yunfu Municipal Party Committee led a team to Luoding City to inspect the progress of the "Hundreds of Thousands of Projects" and the preparations for the Yunfu division of the 2026 Guangdong Provincial City Basketball League (Guangdong BA). The Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee participated in the inspection.
At the Luoding City Sports Park and the construction site of the Luoding North Station of the Shenzhen-Nanning High-Speed Railway, the Secretary conducted on-site reviews of the project's advancement. He emphasized the need to enhance political awareness, closely align with the deployment requirements of the "Hundreds of Thousands of Projects," and focus on achieving breakthroughs in key project construction. This will effectively drive significant urban and rural improvements and accelerate development through major project initiatives. Goals should be firmly set, with schedules reversed and progress tracked visually, seizing the pre-rainy season "window period" for construction. While ensuring safety and quality, construction progress should be accelerated to guarantee the early completion and opening of the Luoding City Sports Park and the timely operation of Luoding North Station. Cultural connotations should be deeply explored, with careful planning and design, and functional layouts divided according to local conditions to continuously meet the living needs of the people. Based on the strategy of building a strong transportation city, the construction of the Luoding North Station should be integrated with county urbanization, town economies, and rural revitalization. Coordination of high-speed rail stations, road traffic, public facilities, and industrial linkages should be prioritized to create a modern, efficient, well-functioning, and people-friendly comprehensive transportation hub. Responsibility chains must be reinforced, with strengthened inter-department coordination and resource guarantees to form a cohesive force for overcoming challenges, ensuring that project quality and outcomes withstand practical, public, and historical scrutiny.
During the inspection, the Secretary also learned about the preparations for the Yunfu division of the Guangdong BA and the training of the Yunfu men's basketball team. He visited training venues and accommodations to extend sincere greetings and encouragement to the players, coaches, medical staff, and cheerleaders on behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and Government. He stated that the Guangdong BA is a key annual mass sports IP for the province, providing an excellent platform for promoting the deep integration of "sports + culture & tourism + consumption." With the battle call already sounded, the Yunfu team will play its first home game on the 22nd, bearing the expectations and trust of the entire city. He urged everyone to clearly understand "who they are fighting for," grasp "what they rely on to fight," and remember "how to fight," striving with their best condition and demeanor to demonstrate skill, civility, style, and achievement on the court, bringing honor to the people of Yunfu and adding luster to the city. Additionally, he provided work requirements and guidance to relevant departments and accommodation managers, advising them to fully apply the successful experiences and effective practices from hosting high-level events like the National Games hockey tournament and the FIH Women's Hockey World Super League. Further efforts should adhere to the "simple, safe, and spectacular" event hosting requirements, ensuring meticulous arrangements for venue setup and focusing on key aspects such as accommodation, dining, and transportation. This will provide quality services for teams and spectators coming to Yunfu, allowing players to fully dedicate themselves to training and competition, and ensuring the orderly conduct of the event.
