德国文化与媒体事务国务部长沃尔弗拉姆·魏默正筹划推出针对谷歌和Meta等大型互联网企业的数字税。魏默在接受采访时透露，相关法律草案正在拟定中。
魏默提出可对在线广告服务征税，另一种方案则是企业自主承诺缴纳。他在采访中表示：“这不仅涉及谷歌广告，更针对所有营收达数十亿规模的平台运营商。我们认为10%的税率是适度且合理的。”
该方案借鉴了奥地利自2020年实施的政策：大型在线平台需缴纳广告营销收入5%的税费。魏默称之为“平台互助金”，适用于使用媒体内容的平台。他强调：“这不仅包含新闻产品，还包括文化内容。”但未透露具体实施细则，如预期收入规模及资金用途。
由德国数字出版商与报业协会（BDZV）及自由媒体协会（MVFP）组成的“未来新闻联盟”发言人表示：“新政府为促进数字媒体多样性而规范平台垄断的做法值得肯定。”同时强调：“对垄断企业征收在线广告税的前提是，税款必须专项用于资助受国际科技平台严重冲击的编辑媒体，而非纳入联邦财政预算。”
