On September 25, Lei Jun, Chairman and CEO of XIAOMI-W, posted to promote his annual speech.
Regarding "What do you think is the most important thing?", Lei Jun stated, "First, finding people; second, saving money." Only with enough talented people can things be accomplished, and only with enough money saved can we focus on major initiatives.
When discussing why he continues to work on the frontline after all these years, Lei Jun explained that Xiaomi has been continuously growing as a startup with extremely rapid development, creating a significant talent shortage. "In recent years, we have been committed to internal promotions and external recruitment. We already have many talented individuals helping us share substantial pressure, so we welcome more people to join Xiaomi."
Addressing the criticism received over the years, Lei Jun smiled and said, "That's where we feel quite uncomfortable." He explained that this is mainly because Xiaomi's business model is very new and grows very quickly, making it easy for people to misunderstand. Lei Jun emphasized that Xiaomi has always used concrete actions to change people's impressions.
Regarding whether Xiaomi's premium strategy has been successful, Lei Jun said it's too early to call it a success, but Xiaomi's progress in premiumization has been quite rapid, and public recognition of Xiaomi continues to grow. "For example, take the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, a product priced at 500,000-600,000 yuan. It's truly incredible that so many people are buying it. Would you have believed this two or three years ago? I certainly wouldn't have."
When asked if there are many failure experiences he hasn't shared publicly, Lei Jun reflected, "Of course, there have been plenty of losses too. I used to joke that people only remember the successful things I've done, which gives me a 100% success rate. So people still need to maintain some optimistic spirit."
