In response to a query at a regular press briefing on September 15, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun addressed recent statements from the US Space Force regarding its possession of orbital space weapons. When asked for China's reaction and whether Beijing also deploys such weapons in orbit, Guo emphasized China's steadfast commitment to the peaceful use of outer space and its opposition to the weaponization or militarization of the space domain.

Guo Jiakun reiterated China's consistent position on maintaining space security and preventing an arms race beyond Earth's atmosphere. He stressed that the international community must work together to preserve the peaceful nature of outer space, which is a shared asset for all humanity.

"We urge the US side to stop its military build-up and preparations for conflict in outer space," Guo stated, calling on Washington to take concrete actions that would contribute to global strategic stability. His remarks underscore ongoing concerns about the growing threat of space becoming a new theater for military competition.

The spokesperson's comments come amid heightened international attention on space security issues, with China reaffirming its stance against the deployment of weapons in orbit and its dedication to diplomatic efforts to ensure that outer space remains free for exploration and use by all nations.
