Wuliangye Yibin Co.,Ltd. posted a substantial earnings jump in the first half of 2026, with net profit attributable to shareholders climbing nearly 90% year-on-year, while revenue expanded by a fifth. The results underscore the baijiu giant's robust performance during the peak Chinese New Year selling season.
According to the company's interim report summary, revenue reached 28.417 billion yuan, up 20.87% from a year earlier. Net profit attributable to shareholders totaled 8.753 billion yuan, a surge of 89.30%. Management attributed the sharp profit increase primarily to a low comparison base in the prior-year period, alongside strong sell-through of core products during the New Year and Spring Festival window. Basic earnings per share stood at 2.2551 yuan, while the weighted average return on equity rose to 7.14%, up 3.73 percentage points from the same period last year.
Notably, despite the impressive profit figures, net cash flow from operating activities turned negative at -2.154 billion yuan for the reporting period, versus 31.137 billion yuan in the prior-year period. Wuliangye Yibin Co.,Ltd. explained that the shift primarily stemmed from adjustments to its collection policies in response to changing market conditions, which reduced cash receipts, compounded by a year-on-year decline in maturing bank acceptance bills.
Behind the profit surge: low base and festival momentum
The near-doubling of first-half net profit reflects two key drivers, as outlined in the company's report: a relatively low profit base in the prior-year period, and effective sales initiatives during the New Year and Spring Festival period that drove solid performance of core products.
Excluding non-recurring items, net profit reached 8.483 billion yuan, up 83.96% year-on-year, closely tracking the growth rate of reported net profit. This indicates that earnings growth was predominantly fueled by core operations rather than one-off gains.
In terms of asset scale, total assets at period-end stood at 185.0 billion yuan, down 2.62% from the start of the year. Net assets attributable to shareholders were 118.48 billion yuan, a marginal decline of 1.21% from year-end levels.
Sharp cash flow decline driven by collection policy changes
The steep drop in operating cash flow marks one of the most notable shifts in this reporting period. Wuliangye Yibin Co.,Ltd.'s net operating cash flow fell 106.92% year-on-year, swinging from positive to negative.
The company attributed the change primarily to proactive adjustments in collection policies based on market conditions, which reduced cash inflows, alongside a decrease in maturing bank acceptance bills compared to the prior year. Based on this explanation, the cash flow decline appears to reflect temporary changes in settlement methods and policies rather than any fundamental deterioration in operations.
During the period, the company declared no cash dividend, no bonus shares, and no capital reserve conversion to increase share capital.
Digital marketing push: new wholly-owned subsidiary established
On the strategic front, Wuliangye Yibin Co.,Ltd. approved the establishment of a new wholly-owned subsidiary during the reporting period. Pursuant to a resolution at the 3rd meeting of the 7th Board of Directors in 2026, its controlling subsidiary Sichuan Wuliangye New Retail Management Co., Ltd. will fund the creation of "Sichuan Yibin Wuliangye Digital Intelligence Marketing Co., Ltd." with registered capital of 100 million yuan. Wuliangye Yibin Co.,Ltd. will hold a combined 90% equity stake in the new entity.
This move signals the company's accelerating efforts to expand its digital marketing footprint, exploring deeper integration of digital technologies with retail channels.
Stable ownership structure: state capital holds over half
In terms of shareholding, Wuliangye Yibin Co.,Ltd. reported 714,632 total ordinary shareholders at period-end, with no changes to its controlling shareholder or actual controller. The top two shareholders—Yibin Development Holding Group Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Yibin Wuliangye Group Co., Ltd.—together hold 55.11% of shares. Given their parent-subsidiary relationship, state capital's grip on the company remains unchanged. Among overseas investors, Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Ltd. held 1.75%, ranking as the third-largest shareholder.
