LG Energy Solution to Terminate Canadian Battery Joint Venture with Stellantis

Deep News
Feb 06

LG Energy Solution from South Korea announced on Friday its plan to acquire Stellantis NV's entire 49% stake in their Canadian battery joint venture for a symbolic price of $100. This move comes as several automakers are scaling back their electric vehicle operations due to policies from the Trump administration in the United States and weak market demand. In 2022, Stellantis NV and LG Energy Solution announced a major investment in the joint venture as part of the automaker's ambitious electrification strategy. However, Stellantis NV, like other automakers, is now curtailing its electric vehicle development plans.
