On September 20, the official announcement from the MaaS platform of Z.AI revealed that it will soon launch a "data content non-retention" feature, offering businesses and developers stricter data privacy safeguards. Once activated, this will rank among the most stringent data protection measures available in China.
The purpose of the data non-retention feature is to minimize the persistent storage of model-invoked content on the platform side. Any user is eligible to apply for activation, and upon activation, the Z.AI MaaS platform will refrain from static storage of user inputs and outputs, with data used solely to complete the immediate model invocation. Businesses and developers can submit activation requests via the MaaS console, with the precise effective timing and scope determined by platform confirmation results.
It is important to note that Z.AI clarified this functionality does not guarantee data non-retention under every scenario. Features such as Batch API and File API, which require persistent storage of tasks or files on the platform side, fall outside this coverage. Additionally, to comply with legal requirements or to investigate suspected violations or misuse, the platform may retain relevant data for 30 days or longer as necessary.
