On the morning of September 15th, Zhang Chaoyang, founder, chairman and CEO of Sohu.com, successfully completed a swimming challenge across the waters from Nanao Island to Raoping Bay using breaststroke, covering a total distance of 8.69 kilometers in 5 hours and 18 minutes, marking another significant breakthrough in his personal challenges.

During the live-streamed event, Zhang Chaoyang started from Nanao Island in Shantou, maintaining a steady stroke frequency and breathing rhythm in the initial phase after entering the water. When he reached the deep-water areas, he encountered the dual risks of "ocean currents and oyster farming zones." The ropes in the extensive oyster farms were covered with shells that caused cuts to his hands, forcing him to temporarily board a support boat for safety. Eventually, he successfully navigated through the oyster zone and continued his challenge, safely reaching the Changxi Bay beach in Haishan Town, Raoping County, Chaozhou City.

In a post-challenge interview, Zhang Chaoyang advised that since ocean currents move at approximately 3 kilometers per hour, swimmers whose speed does not exceed 3 kilometers per hour should avoid swimming in these waters.

Zhang Chaoyang emphasized that this crossing was not only a test of physical endurance and willpower, but also served as a show of support for the 2025 Autumn Sohu.com Video Creator Conference scheduled for September 21st in Sanya. Additionally, it was meant to convey a positive and uplifting sporting spirit for the upcoming 15th National Games through action.
