Japanese stocks edged lower on the final trading day of 2025, with market activity remaining subdued. The Nikkei Stock Average declined by 0.4% to close at 50,344.61 points. Technology and financial shares led the market's descent. SoftBank Group Corp. fell 2.6%, while SBI Holdings Inc. dropped 1.7%. The U.S. dollar was trading at 156.05 yen, compared to 156.20 yen at the close of trading in Tokyo on Monday. Investors remained focused on the yen's trajectory and the progress of policy initiatives from Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
