On October 8, TONGCHENGTRAVEL released the "2025 National Day-Mid-Autumn Festival Holiday Travel Consumption Report." The report shows that under the dual demand of family visits and mass tourism, this year's National Day-Mid-Autumn Festival holiday demonstrated clear trends toward long-distance inter-provincial and cross-border travel, characterized by traveling farther, more diverse activities, and higher quality experiences.

For domestic tourism, long-distance flight segments showed significant growth. The opening of new highways, elevated roads, and high-speed rail routes not only improved inter-provincial travel efficiency but also connected popular scenic areas along the routes into regional golden tourism belts. Meanwhile, optimized visa policies and increased international flights have led to strong supply and demand in the inbound and outbound markets.

**Domestic Flight Segments Over 3,200km Lead Growth, First-Time Business and First-Class Passengers Increase Over 10% Year-on-Year**

With the convergence of family visits and leisure travel, long-distance inter-regional demand increased significantly during the National Day-Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. TONGCHENGTRAVEL data shows that during the 2025 National Day-Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, domestic flight segments of 400-800km, 800-1,200km, and over 3,200km each accounted for more than 20% of total bookings. Segments over 3,200km grew 14% year-on-year, ranking first among all tracked segments, with Xinjiang becoming a popular origin and destination for these ultra-long-haul flights.

As air-to-air and air-to-rail transfer solutions mature, more users choose connecting flights during long holidays, enjoying more cost-effective tickets while having opportunities to "visit an extra city" during layovers. TONGCHENGTRAVEL data indicates that during the holiday, some connecting flight routes offered prices over 30% lower than direct flights. The top five domestic connecting routes by passenger volume were Beijing-Shanghai-Shenzhen, Beijing-Shanghai-Chengdu, Harbin-Beijing-Guangzhou, Beijing-Shanghai-Chongqing, and Urumqi-Chengdu-Guangzhou.

Due to high demand making some popular routes "hard to book" at the beginning and end of the holiday, people turned to "flight + train" combination packages. TONGCHENGTRAVEL data shows that over 30% of users chose mixed "flight + train" travel methods during this holiday.

Notably, the user structure for holiday air travel on the TONGCHENGTRAVEL platform showed clear trends toward higher quality and younger demographics. Students remained the largest domestic flight customer group at nearly 40%, followed by family travelers at nearly 30%. Among first-time domestic flyers, bookings for first-class and business-class tickets increased over 10% year-on-year, with female users accounting for over 50%. This reflects that first-time air travelers, with improved consumption levels, increasingly prioritize flight comfort and experience.

To better serve the rapidly growing first-time passenger segment, TONGCHENGTRAVEL officially launched the "First Flight Worry-Free" program in March. Addressing pain points such as "unfamiliarity and fear of missing flights" that first-time passengers may encounter during check-in, security, and boarding, TONGCHENGTRAVEL partnered with airports to provide "four dedicated" services: dedicated guidance, dedicated counters, dedicated channels, and dedicated lounges. Currently, over 26 airports nationwide have joined the "First Flight Worry-Free" program.

**Domestic Hotel Multi-Night Bookings Increase Over 50%, Non-Tier-1 City High-Quality Hotels Nearly Double in Popularity**

This year's National Day-Mid-Autumn Festival holiday domestic accommodation market was characterized by rapid growth in multi-night hotel bookings, high cross-city hotel booking frequency, and strong demand for high-quality hotels and multi-bedroom homestays in non-tier-1 cities.

TONGCHENGTRAVEL data shows that overall domestic hotel booking enthusiasm increased over 65% year-on-year, with multi-night stays (2+ days) growing over 52% year-on-year. The 8-day holiday, combined with extended vacation strategies, provided ample time for high-frequency local area tours and multi-provincial long-distance travel. During the holiday, users booking hotels in 2+ cities increased over 20% year-on-year.

The rise of "county tourism" and reverse travel boosted booking enthusiasm for high-quality hotels in non-tier-1 cities. TONGCHENGTRAVEL data indicates that high-quality hotel bookings in domestic non-tier-1 cities increased over 90% year-on-year, exceeding the overall domestic high-quality hotel booking growth. The top 5 non-tier-1 cities with highest high-quality hotel booking enthusiasm were Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, and Changsha.

**"Three High" Routes Connect "Three Color" Scenic Areas, "Small City Hot Spots" Offer Rich Layered Experiences**

Before the National Day-Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, "Three High" routes consisting of highways, high bridges, and high-speed rail launched intensively, connecting red (revolutionary), moonlit, and autumn-themed scenic areas and tourism products. This made travel within approximately 300km radius more frequent and enriching. Free highway tolls for small vehicles nationwide and various cultural tourism activities and consumption subsidies further stimulated domestic cultural tourism market enthusiasm.

According to incomplete statistics, newly opened highway, high-speed rail, and bridge projects in September included Jiumian Expressway, Xiangjing High-Speed Rail, Shenbai High-Speed Rail, Huajiang Canyon Bridge, and Changtai Yangtze River Bridge. The Huajiang Canyon Bridge, praised as a "world-first in both directions" super project, transformed from a bridge into a popular scenic area with bungee jumping, skydiving, and other low-altitude tourism projects plus an aerial café.

TONGCHENGTRAVEL data shows that driven by the Huajiang Canyon Bridge opening, Huajiang Grand Canyon scenic area search popularity increased 178% year-on-year during the holiday. Meanwhile, search popularity for attractions along the route like Huangguoshu and Wanfenglin increased significantly, with Huangguoshu scenic area ticket searches growing 227% year-on-year.

Red, moonlit, and autumn colors became popular holiday travel "theme colors," extending into red cultural museum tours, autumn outdoor tours, scenic moon-viewing tours, and family-friendly theme park visits as mainstream holiday activities.

Some domestic non-tier-1 cities, centered around famous attractions with convenient transportation and rich day and night activities, formed multi-layered, diverse-themed "small city hot spots" with varied experiences. Some popular attractions combined red, autumn, and moon-viewing attributes.

TONGCHENGTRAVEL data shows the most searched red, autumn, and night tourism scenic areas in small cities were Yan'an Revolutionary Memorial Site in Yan'an, Kanas in Altay, and Wangxian Valley in Shangrao respectively.

Under the Mid-Autumn family atmosphere, theme park family trips were highly popular, with Jingzhou Fantawild Oriental Heritage topping theme park holiday booking popularity. With the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge opening, Changzhou China Dinosaur Park's holiday search popularity increased over 200% year-on-Year, entering the top five domestic theme parks.

Suzhou Jinye·Qingdian Luzhi Scenic Area added daytime performances and games plus nighttime interactive projects like traditional iron flower shows, Sichuan opera face-changing fire-breathing, and martial arts acrobatics during the holiday, significantly extending visitor stay duration. The scenic area's night tourism reception increased over 53% year-on-year.

During the holiday, group tour markets showed non-tier-1 city users traveling farther while tier-1 city users spending more. TONGCHENGTRAVEL data indicates that non-tier-1 city domestic group tour bookings increased over 70% year-on-year, mainly featuring cross-regional and inter-provincial long-distance group tours. Tier-1 city users favored customized tours to enhance family travel comfort and experience. For example, a Shenzhen user booked a 2-day family customized tour with per-person consumption exceeding 40,000 yuan to meet personalized, high-quality service demands.

Additionally, more users utilized AI tools on OTA platforms to plan holiday itineraries. TONGCHENGTRAVEL data shows that among domestic travelers during the holiday, users completing closed-loop bookings after planning domestic itineraries through DeepTrip increased significantly compared to May Day holiday. Users residing in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Chengdu used DeepTrip most frequently for holiday travel planning. The top five destination provinces for domestic itinerary planning through DeepTrip were Shandong, Jiangsu, Xinjiang, Yunnan, and Heilongjiang.

Non-tier-1 city users' European group tour bookings increased over 140% year-on-year, while American group tour bookings grew over 32% year-on-year.

To meet user demand for high-quality group tour products, TONGCHENGTRAVEL launched vacation "Peace of Mind Selection" products and strengthened procurement of quality group tour products.
