As the Spring Festival approaches, Sanjing Village in Jinchengjiang District, Hechi City, Guangxi, is bustling with agricultural activity. Villagers are busy working in the sugarcane fields, Satsuma orange groves, and layer hen farms. This village, home to ten ethnic groups including Zhuang, Han, Yao, Yi, Bouyei, Dong, Maonan, Tujia, Miao, and Mulao, is enjoying its sweetest harvest yet.

In villager Wei Liujiang's Satsuma orange grove, over 40 villagers are harvesting the fruit with shears. A single person can harvest approximately 1,000 jin per day, earning over 200 yuan in labor income. "The buyer took a look at the fruit, tasted one, and immediately placed an order for the entire lot. If the quality is good, sales are never a problem," said Wei. Thanks to professional care, the oranges are of excellent quality and appearance, fetching a price of 2.5 yuan per jin, which pleases Wei greatly.

Huang Wei, the village's first stationed Party secretary, explained that Sanjing Village has developed six Satsuma orange orchards covering thousands of acres, achieving large-scale contiguous cultivation. With an annual egg production exceeding 100 million, the village is a key poultry egg supply base for Hechi City. The sugarcane industry serves as the anchor for the village's collective economy, providing stable income sources for formerly impoverished households through maintenance and harvesting work. In recent years, by leveraging its own resources, Sanjing Village has established a scaled, characteristic industrial system centered around layer hens, pigs, sugar cane, Satsuma oranges, and high-quality rice.

This industrial development has created multiple income streams, including land transfer rents, shareholding dividends, and employment wages. Preliminary estimates indicate the village's collective economy income will surpass 600,000 yuan in 2025. Increased income has brought tangible improvements to daily life.

"Wei Qingkai, Secretary of the Sanjing Village Party General Branch, stated that public facilities have been significantly upgraded. All village roads are now paved and lit, drinking water pipelines cover the entire area, and bus shelters and cultural rooms have been constructed. Next, we plan 'mini-vegetable gardens, mini-flower gardens, and mini-orchards' to make our homeland even more beautiful."

Under a large banyan tree in the village, women dance to music. After finishing farm work during the day, they are rehearsing for the upcoming village Spring Festival gala in their spare time. "Look at our energy and spirit, don't we rival the young people?" said Wei Guorong, a core member of the "Guangxi Sisters" cultural team, while practicing. She mentioned they had rehearsed the "concentric circle" move for days to symbolize the unity of all ethnic groups in Sanjing Village.

In recent years, Sanjing Village has deeply advanced grassroots governance and rural cultural development, actively encouraging residents to participate in village management. Volunteer teams like the "Guangxi Sisters" propaganda team, cultural team, "Eco-Moms," and "Caring Moms" are active throughout the village.

Meanwhile, in the village's artificial intelligence (AI) women and children's space, children are learning to use AI to generate pictures of their dreams under teacher guidance. During the winter vacation, young teachers and returning university students have been offering public welfare AI fun classes for villagers and children. In September 2025, a project designed by the village advanced to the finals of the AI Super League's Smart Agriculture (Digital Village) track.

Moving forward, Sanjing Village plans to focus on introducing mature AI applications such as pest and disease monitoring, precision livestock feeding, and intelligent integrated water-fertilizer systems, aiming to transition from traditional farming to smart agriculture.
