On October 9, Hong Kong's Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises held a "Key Enterprise Partnership Signing Ceremony," unveiling the fifth batch of key enterprises comprising 18 domestic and international companies. The list includes three of the world's top 10 pharmaceutical companies: UK-based GlaxoSmithKline (GSK.US), Switzerland's Roche (RHHBY.US), and Germany's Merck, along with mainland social platform Xiaohongshu and US cultural and creative enterprise VOBILE GROUP (03738), which combines technology innovation.
Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po stated in his address that with the arrival of this new batch of enterprises to develop business in Hong Kong, the cumulative total of key enterprises attracted through the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises has exceeded 100 companies, bringing together over HK$60 billion in investment and creating approximately 22,000 job opportunities.
Chan noted that the new batch of key enterprises comes from various cutting-edge industries, including leading global pharmaceutical companies, artificial intelligence, and new media sectors, marking an important milestone. These companies bring transformative concepts, world-class expertise, global perspectives, and innovative spirit that will further enrich Hong Kong's rapidly developing innovation and technology ecosystem.
He also highlighted that this new batch represents the first time cultural and creative enterprises combining technology innovation have been included. Chan believes that as the global digital entertainment market grows rapidly, Hong Kong's unique advantage of connecting mainland China with the international market, along with its open and diversified atmosphere as an international city, makes it an ideal platform for such enterprises to expand and strengthen their presence in Asia and globally.
