In October, at the apple dwarf rootstock demonstration garden in Yongfeng Town, Zhaotong City's Zhaoyang District, vibrant red apples adorn the branches as farmers diligently carry out daily care tasks. In recent years, Zhaoyang District has implemented a development strategy of “high standards for contiguous areas and standardized practices for dispersed areas,” introducing the national leading enterprise Zhaotong Chaoyue Agricultural Co., Ltd. A 100,000-acre dwarf rootstock demonstration garden has been established across the towns of Yongfeng, Buga, and Shouwang, alongside a modern post-harvest sorting and processing line with a handling capacity of 20 tons per hour and a 40,000-ton modern cold storage facility. This has effectively enhanced the sorting, refrigeration, and cold chain logistics capabilities of apples, while improving the scale, standardization, and order-based marketing of sales, thereby extending the industrial chain and promoting the scaled development of the apple industry throughout the district. Local farmers benefit from stable rental income through land transfer, while also increasing their income with work opportunities near home.
