Tai Ping Carpets International Limited has announced a leadership transition that will see Laetitia Anna Cecile Mergui succeed Mark Stuart Worgan as Chief Executive Officer on 1 January 2027. To facilitate a smooth hand-over, Mergui becomes Chief Executive Officer Designate from 1 October 2026 and will be proposed for election as an Executive Director at the December 2026 annual general meeting. Upon election, she will also join the Executive Committee.
Mergui, 44, brings extensive global luxury-sector experience, having served as CEO and board member of Paris-based Lemaire and as Asia-Pacific Regional Managing Director for Chloé under Richemont Group. Earlier roles include senior leadership positions at Balmain and cross-border M&A practice at Clifford Chance LLP (London) and Gide Loyrette Nouel (Hong Kong). She holds advanced degrees in management and business law from HEC Paris and Université Panthéon-Assas.
Under her employment agreement with Tai Ping Carpets, Mergui will receive a remuneration package of HK$3.90 million per annum, supplemented by discretionary short- and long-term incentives tied to corporate and individual performance. The contract is open-ended and may be terminated by either party with six months’ written notice. Should shareholders approve her board appointment, she will not draw additional directors’ fees.
Mergui has no shareholding in Tai Ping Carpets or its associated corporations, nor any stated relationships with existing directors, senior management, or major shareholders. The board expressed appreciation for outgoing CEO Mark Worgan, who retires on 31 December 2026 after serving as both Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director.
