Wai Yuen Tong Medicine Holdings (Wai Yuen Tong, 00897) released its FY2026 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, detailing material progress on climate, resource efficiency and stakeholder initiatives for the year ended 31 March 2026.
Key environmental metrics • Greenhouse gases: Total GHG emissions (Scopes 1, 2 & 3) fell 43% to 4,833.62 tonnes CO₂e, led by a 20% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions to 3,995.79 tonnes CO₂e and a 76% plunge in Scope 3 emissions to 837.84 tonnes CO₂e. • Energy: Group energy use declined 10.05% to 11,670.74 MWh; energy-consumption intensity held at 0.04 MWh per sq ft. Photovoltaic panels were installed at the Yuen Long factory to expand renewable supply. • Waste: Hazardous waste decreased 39% to 10 tonnes, while non-hazardous waste dropped 77% to 537.67 tonnes after construction projects concluded. • Water: Consumption fell 10.56% to 41,516 m³, supported by rainwater harvesting and sensor-controlled fixtures. • Packaging: Usage contracted 28.36% to 390.57 tonnes following deployment of an automated GMP packaging line that doubled throughput and cut manual labour by 90%.
Climate governance and targets The Board retains ultimate oversight of ESG matters, assisted by an inter-departmental ESG Committee. Long-term intensity targets (vs FY2025 baseline) include 16% cuts by 2035 in energy use, water, waste and Scope 1-2 GHG emissions, with interim milestones of 3% (short-term) and 6% (medium-term). No internal carbon pricing or offset programme is in place.
Workforce and safety • Headcount: 691 employees; 88.1% stationed in Hong Kong and Macau. • Turnover: 24.66% in Hong Kong; 89.81% in Mainland China. • Training: 95.31% of Hong Kong staff received training, averaging 7.9 hours; Mainland staff averaged 3.0 hours. • Safety: Zero work-related fatalities; injuries declined to six cases with 63.5 lost days (FY2025: nine cases, 383 days).
Product quality and supply chain The Yuen Long facility maintains PIC/S, ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certifications. No product recalls or significant non-compliance incidents were reported. The group engaged 86 suppliers, emphasising local and environmentally preferable sourcing, and requires analysis certificates for every batch.
Community engagement Cash and in-kind contributions totalled HKD 0.60 million, channelled to programmes on chronic-disease awareness, free TCM clinics, youth employment, and animal welfare across Hong Kong’s districts.
The FY2026 ESG disclosures underscore Wai Yuen Tong’s strategy to align operations with Hong Kong’s carbon-neutrality roadmap while strengthening product integrity, workforce development and community support.
