Facing mounting budget pressures and turbulence in global bond markets, eurozone finance ministers may convene a special session to address the escalating cost of energy.
According to informed sources, ministers gathering in Dublin on Friday expressed concerns over the impact of the Middle East conflict on households and the strain that government responses are placing on public finances. The sources indicated that, in response to these worries, Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis told the assembled ministers that the possibility of an emergency meeting could not be ruled out.
A spokesperson for Pierrakakis declined to comment on the matter.
