CHINA QINFA Surges Over 6% in Late Trading on Back of Share Purchase Rights and Insider Buys

Stock News

CHINA QINFA (00866) saw its stock price surge more than 6% during late trading. As of the time of writing, the shares were up 4.15%, trading at HKD 2.01 with a turnover of HKD 53.62 million.

On May 21, the company announced that it had been notified that a major shareholder and several executive directors had increased their respective stakes in the company through market purchases on May 21, 2026. Details of the purchases, conducted on the open market at prevailing prices, are as follows: major shareholder Mr. Xu Jihua acquired 5.1 million ordinary shares; executive director Mr. Bai Tao acquired 1 million shares; and executive director Mr. Zhai Yifeng acquired 1 million shares.

Analysis suggests that the combination of share purchase rights and secondary market acquisitions by insiders aligns management interests deeply with long-term shareholders and reflects high confidence in the company's Indonesian production capacity and profitability.

Further analysis indicates that following the implementation of Indonesia's state-owned enterprise export monopoly policy, coupled with supply scarcity due to production capacity controls, the FOB price center for Indonesian coal is expected to rise. This development may not be entirely negative for CHINA QINFA's operations in Indonesia. The core objective of the policy is to promote compliance and high-quality development within the coal industry, targeting non-compliant practices and grey-market arbitrage. The substantial impact on long-term, compliant operators is expected to be limited and could even be beneficial.

With industry supply contraction, a rising coal price center, and the accelerated exit of non-compliant small and medium-sized mines, the company is positioned to potentially increase its market share and profit elasticity in the Indonesian coal market.
