Sources: Kazakhstan's Tengiz Oilfield Output Rebounds to 183,000 Barrels Daily by February 1

According to two sources familiar with operational data, oil production at Kazakhstan's giant Tengiz field has continued recovering over recent days following a mid-January shutdown.

The Tengiz field, accounting for nearly 40% of Kazakhstan's output, was shut down on January 18 due to an electrical equipment fire, reducing the Central Asian nation's total oil supply at a time when exports were already constrained by disruptions to its main pipeline.

Sources indicated that Tengiz's oil output increased from 14,900 metric tons (118,000 barrels) on Saturday to 23,000 metric tons (183,000 barrels) on Sunday. They added that production is expected to continue rising, reaching 54,000 tons (430,000 barrels) by Wednesday.

Data from the Fuel and Energy Complex Situational Analysis Centre (SAC FEC) showed that Tengiz's January production fell by two-thirds compared to December, dropping to 234,000 barrels per day. Calculations indicate the field produced 2.694 million tons in December, equivalent to 691,700 barrels per day.

SAC FEC data revealed that Tengiz's output reached a record 3.7 million tons in August 2023.

Tengizchevroil (TCO), the operator led by Chevron, stated that the company is gradually ramping up production as conditions permit but declined to comment on specific operational or commercial details.
