The increase follows reports that Uber is shifting its core strategy to focus on autonomous driving. The company plans to invest more than $10 billion to purchase autonomous vehicles and fund related businesses. Uber has repositioned itself as a unified aggregation platform for multi-platform autonomous taxi operators and has already partnered with companies such as Baidu, Rivian, and Lucid. It aims to launch autonomous taxi services in at least 28 cities worldwide by 2028. Notably, in May last year, Pony AI Inc announced a strategic partnership with Uber to deploy its Robotaxis on the Uber platform. On April 8 this year, Pony AI Inc, together with Verne and Uber, officially launched commercial Robotaxi services for the public in Zagreb, Croatia, marking the first such commercial service in Europe.
