South Korea Stocks Rebound; Chip Stocks Follow U.S. Gains

South Korea's KOSPI rose more than 1% on Thursday, rebounding from a two-week low as semiconductor names tracked overnight gains on Wall Street. U.S. equities rallied on Wednesday after three straight days of declines, prompting investors to buy previously oversold stocks and sectors.
Broadcom said on Wednesday it expects strong AI-chip sales over the next two years, providing fresh evidence of continued demand for AI infrastructure; investors are still assessing returns on large AI investments.
Of 907 KOSPI-listed stocks traded, 568 advanced and 304 declined. Foreign investors were net sellers of KRW 210.3 bln (about $155.1m) of Korean equities.
