SIA Engineering Company Limited (S59) officially opened its wholly-owned Base Maintenance Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (BMM) at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang on May, 22 2026.
The two-hangar site can accommodate up to six concurrent aircraft checks and will support maintenance, repair and overhaul work for both current and next-generation widebody and narrowbody aircraft across the Asia-Pacific region.
BMM expands the group’s regional base-maintenance network, adding capacity to existing facilities in Singapore and the Philippines, and is aimed at enhancing operating resilience and customer flexibility.
SIA Engineering highlighted Malaysia’s strategic location, established infrastructure and growing aerospace talent pool as key factors for the investment. The company already partners in three Malaysian joint ventures—Asia Pacific Aircraft Component Services, Eaton Aero Services and Pos Aviation Engineering Services.
Regulatory approval for BMM’s first hangar was obtained earlier, and the unit completed its first Airbus A350 maintenance check for Singapore Airlines in Nov, 2025.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Sim Tze Tzin, and attended by representatives from federal and state governments, aviation authorities, customers, partners and employees.
