背景簡介
美國勞工節（英語：Labor Day）是美國的全國性節日，定於每年9月的第一個星期一，全國放假一天，以紀念勞動者為國家發展所做的貢獻。
該節日起源於19世紀末美國工人爭取八小時工作制的鬥爭。1886年5月1日，全美約35萬工人發起大規模罷工和遊行，要求縮短工時。期間，芝加哥發生暴力衝突，導致數百人傷亡。儘管罷工遭到鎮壓，但推動部分企業將工時縮短至8至10小時。
1889年，第二國際為紀念這場運動，將5月1日定為國際勞動節。為區別國際勞工運動，美國於同年8月通過法案，將每年9月的第一個星期一定為聯邦法定勞工節。節日期間，民衆通常通過遊行、集會等方式慶祝。
