To maintain orderly traffic in Fuzhou's urban area during the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival, the Fuzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau Traffic Management Bureau has issued a travel advisory based on big-data forecasts. The guide analyzes holiday traffic patterns and offers practical advice for navigating the city, with a separate section covering Changle International Airport during the combined Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays.
Where congestion is likely
During the Mid-Autumn Festival, residents tend to favor short trips and shopping, so traffic on major corridors in and out of the city is expected to rise only 10% from normal levels, reaching about 350,000 vehicles per day in both directions. The most congested periods are forecast for September 24 from 5 PM to 7 PM, September 25 from 9 AM to 11 AM, and September 27 from 4 PM to 6 PM, with bottlenecks concentrated on routes toward Xiangqian and the Fuzhou South direction.
Popular scenic spots and shopping areas
Residents are likely to favor short outings to local parks, museums, and science centers, leading to noticeably higher traffic on roads around Forest Park, West Lake Park, the Fujian Provincial Museum, the Fuzhou Science and Technology Museum, and Nongda Beach Park. Congestion in these areas is most likely between 9 AM and 11 AM and 3 PM to 6 PM on holiday days. Around Zhongting Street and Shangxiahang, the affected roads include Bayiqi South Road (from Taijiang Road to Dadao Road), Taijiang Road, and Wuyi South Road. Expect severe congestion from 3 PM to 9 PM on holiday days, with peak speeds of about 10 km/h. At Yantai Mountain Park, the roads to watch are Cangqian Road, Shangdu Road, Shangsan Road, and Liuyi South Road, with severe congestion expected from 2 PM to 11 PM and speeds near 12 km/h. Accidents are more common on Cangqian Road during heavy traffic, so please remain cautious.
At Gushan Scenic Area, the Fuma Road under-mountain section and Gushan Highway will be severely congested from 9 AM to 11 AM and 2 PM to 6 PM, with peak speeds around 20 km/h. Near West Lake Park and the Fujian Provincial Museum, expect severe congestion on West Second Ring North Road and Beimengshan Road from 8 AM to 11 AM and 2 PM to 5 PM, with speeds around 25 km/h. Accidents are frequent on West Second Ring North Road during congestion, so keep a safe distance and drive carefully. The Sam's Club on Yangqiao East Road will see heavy traffic on Yangqiao West Road from September 24 to 30 between 3 PM and 6 PM, with speeds near 20 km/h and severe congestion expected.

However, localized delays may occur on West Second Ring, East Second Ring, Wusi Road, roads around the north and south railway stations, and near large event venues. On West Second Ring, East Second Ring, and Wusi Road, partial sections may become congested from 4 PM to 6 PM on holiday days. Around the North Railway Station, roads such as Zhanxi Road and Qinhe Road are expected to be busy on September 24 from noon to 4 PM and on September 25 from 7 AM to 9 AM.
Recommended detours
For travel toward Putian, Quanzhou, Xiamen, or Zhangzhou, if the Xiangqian direction is congested, you can detour to the Fuzhou toll station to enter the expressway, or use Fuxia Road–National Highway 324–Lanpu toll station. On the return trip, exit at the Fuzhou toll station to bypass congestion, or exit at Lanpu toll station and take National Highway 324–Fuxia Road back into the city. For trips toward Longyan, if the Fuzhou South direction is congested, use the Fuzhou West toll station, or take Pushang Bridge–Qishan Avenue–National Highway 355–Qishan toll station. On return, exit at Fuzhou West toll station and take Jianping Road–Juyuanzhou Bridge. For Sanming or Nanping, if Jingxi is congested, detour via Jianping Road–Fuzhou West toll station; on return, exit there and use Jianping Road–Juyuanzhou Bridge. For Ningde, if Guihu is congested, detour via Xindian Outer Ring Road–North Second Corridor, or use Third Ring Road–New National Highway 104. On return, take the North Second Corridor–Xindian Outer Ring Road–North Third Ring Road. During the Mid-Autumn holiday from 6 AM to 10 PM daily, all freight vehicles are banned from Luozhou Bridge and Guixin Tunnel. In the event of an accident-related jam, keep orderly flow, avoid the emergency lane, and allow police and tow trucks to reach the scene quickly.
Changle Airport holiday traffic advisory for Mid-Autumn and National Day
With passenger volumes expected to surge during the combined Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays, combined with the airport now operating in a dual-terminal, dual-runway mode, traffic organization has changed significantly. The Airport Public Security Bureau of the Fujian Provincial Public Security Department has issued the following advisory for safe and smooth travel.
Peak travel times
Flight numbers suggest the departure peak will occur from the afternoon of September 30 through October 1, with the return peak on October 6 and 7. Daily flight-dense periods are 6 AM to 8 AM, 1 PM to 3 PM, and 5 PM to 7 PM, when departure-level roads and main access routes will be busy. Additionally, airport traffic will overlap with visitors heading to Nan'ao Beach, so expect slow conditions at the intersection of Xianbin Road and Airport Avenue between 4 PM and 8 PM on holiday days. Please plan routes and departure times carefully to avoid peaks. Since terminal 2 and its associated roads and parking structures opened on September 16, all routes to terminals 1 and 2 have changed; use navigation apps throughout your journey.
Follow time-limited traffic rules
Time limits apply on the departure-level roads at terminals 1 and 2 and on the terminal overpasses: an 8-minute limit on departure-level roads and a 15-minute limit on the overpasses. Drivers must strictly follow these rules, stop only briefly, and avoid long parking. Obey all traffic signs, and do not change lanes abruptly or force your way into traffic.
Safe driving reminders
Two- and three-wheeled vehicles must use designated routes under the south-in-south-out and north-in-north-out zone management system. These vehicles are prohibited on the main Airport Avenue, terminal overpasses, the Xianghui Road underpass vehicle lanes, and the underpasses in front of terminals 1 and 2. Riders should strictly follow these rules and plan accordingly. All occupants should wear seat belts at all times; children must use safety seats. Do not drink and drive or drive fatigued, as holiday gatherings increase risks; on long trips, rest for at least 20 minutes after every four hours of driving. Control your speed and maintain safe following distances, and slow down in rainy conditions without sudden braking or sharp turns. For transfers to the city, the metro (Binhai Express Line) is available, with taxi pickup and drop-off zones in front of both terminals and a ride-hailing pickup area in parking structure 2. Please use licensed transport options and avoid unlicensed vehicles. For assistance with accidents or breakdowns, call airport police at 0591-87094701 or seek help from officers on duty.
Traffic safety matters for everyone. Wishing all travelers and residents a pleasant, safe, and happy holiday season.
