Standard Chartered PLC (STANCHART) has reduced its outstanding ordinary share capital to 2.17 billion shares after cancelling 1.12 million shares repurchased earlier in October.
The bank’s issued share count fell from 2.174 billion to 2.173 billion on 9 October 2026, a contraction of roughly 0.05%, following the cancellation of three tranches bought on 5-7 October at volume-weighted average prices of GBP 22.2037, GBP 22.6060 and GBP 21.7780, respectively.
Two additional blocks—386,441 shares acquired on 8 October at GBP 21.0771 and 394,159 shares purchased on 9 October at GBP 21.2743—remain in the repurchase pipeline and are yet to be cancelled, bringing total pending cancellations to 0.78 million shares.
On 9 October, STANCHART bought back 394,159 shares across the London Stock Exchange and Cboe’s BXE and CXE platforms, paying GBP 8.39 million at prices between GBP 21.14 and GBP 21.43 per share. All shares were earmarked for cancellation.
Since shareholders renewed the buyback mandate on 7 May 2026—authorising the repurchase of up to 221.63 million shares—STANCHART has acquired 41.61 million shares, equal to 1.88% of the company’s outstanding equity at the mandate date.
The buybacks have been executed entirely on overseas venues and, according to the company’s filing, comply with all Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing rules and relevant regulatory requirements.
