该核电站的运营商新纪元能源（NextEra Energy）旗下佛罗里达电力和照明公司（FPL）表示，许可证更新保障了佛罗里达州长期清洁能源的稳定供应。核能作为零碳排放电源，将为该州实现减排目标提供关键支撑。
此次延期决定基于核管会对电站安全运行记录与设备老化管理方案的全面评估。电站将继续实施严格的安全监测与技术改造，确保符合最新核安全标准。
