LandSpace Rocket Launch Postponed, Dragging Down Commercial Space Stocks

Deep News
Aug 11

According to sources familiar with the matter, LandSpace's Zhuque-3 Y2 carrier rocket launch, originally scheduled for the morning of August 11, has been postponed. Notices had previously indicated that temporary airspace restrictions at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center would be in effect from 7:40 to 8:27 Beijing time on August 11, 2026.

Shares in the commercial aerospace sector fell broadly on Monday, with China Satellite Communications Co Ltd dropping more than 6%. The decline came after a separate setback: on August 10 at 20:02, a Long March 7A rocket carrying the Zhongxing-4B satellite malfunctioned during launch from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site, resulting in a mission failure. The specific cause is still under investigation.

Huaxi Securities noted that China possesses a comprehensive rocket and satellite industrial chain, providing a clear path for commercial aerospace initiatives. As reusable rocket technology matures and launch costs decline, the sector is expected to enter a period of rapid growth, driven by the demand for satellite constellation assembly and the expansion of end-user commercial applications. This should benefit companies across the entire upstream and downstream supply chain.
