美国总统特朗普周一于白宫表示，他对美联储主席凯文·沃什怀有崇高敬意，并指出在利率政策方面，“他会履行其必要职责”。
上周五，沃什在杰克逊霍尔全球央行年会上发表讲话，称若政策制定者无法对通胀正朝2%目标回归获得充分信心，美联储仍将“有未竟之业”。
巴克莱银行在评估沃什讲话后调整预期，现预计美联储今年将再加息两次，时点分别在9月与12月。此前，该机构曾预估本年度不再有加息动作。目前，市场对9月加息的隐含概率亦已攀升至约60%。
特朗普屡次施压，敦促推进降息步伐。他周一重申：“依我之见，我国利率水平应远低于世界其他地区，加息之举实属荒谬。”
截至7月数据显示，美联储首选通胀衡量指标——个人消费支出（PCE）价格指数同比增幅维持在3.7%。随着11月中期选举渐近，生活成本与负担能力议题正成为选民关切的焦点。
美联储官员定于9月召开货币政策会议，届时将审议并商讨利率调整事宜。
