Panel Prices Decline Across the Board Amid Seasonal Slowdown and Rising Costs

According to industry analysis, the mobile phone market experienced overall weakness in February 2026, influenced by the Lunar New Year holiday and traditional off-peak season. Concurrently, sustained significant price increases for upstream memory components have substantially raised overall handset BOM costs, prompting terminal brands to reduce shipment targets for cost control. Against this backdrop, the mobile phone panel market continues its soft trend, with prices for all technology types facing varying degrees of downward pressure.

For a-Si panels: February saw a notable contraction in brand demand for a-Si panels. However, leading manufacturers effectively maintained high production line utilization by increasing shipments to the South China market. Yet, amid intense competition, module factories generally continued adopting low-price strategies to secure limited project orders. Meanwhile, rising cost pressures for key raw materials such as copper and silver are rapidly transferring to the module segment. Consequently, the prolonged unilateral decline in module prices has become unsustainable, and a-Si Cell prices may begin to soften.

For LTPS panels: Although LTPS panels still receive some demand support from non-mobile applications like automotive displays, laptops, and tablets, overall LTPS panel demand is contracting due to persistent memory price increases. In February, prices for LTPS panels used in smartphones showed minor softening. Prices for existing projects remained relatively firm due to stable client relationships, but to maintain production line utilization, panel manufacturers generally offered more competitive pricing for new projects, leading to downward pressure on new project prices.

For AMOLED panels: Rigid AMOLED panel leader Samsung Display (SDC) proactively reduced prices to secure new projects, triggering overall price softening. Flexible AMOLED panels face greater challenges—terminal brands significantly cut procurement volumes due to inventory adjustments and cost control, putting widespread pressure on panel makers' utilization rates. To maintain production line operations and client market share, panel manufacturers continued conceding margins during price negotiations and bidding, intensifying competition. Flexible AMOLED panel prices are expected to remain on a downward trajectory.

Market projections indicate that a-Si module prices and LTPS panel prices may continue declining in both February and March 2026. Flexible AMOLED panel prices are also forecast to stay within a downward trend.
