The exterior curtain wall of the Huaxia Bank headquarters office building project has been fully enclosed, with a synchronized nighttime lighting system under construction.
Located at the intersection of the "One Belt, One Axis" in the Canal Business District of Beijing's Sub-Center, the project's BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaics) exterior facade is now taking shape. Over 1,000 workers are advancing interior finishing, mechanical and electrical pipeline installation, and intelligent system debugging. The project, serving as the exclusive office space for Huaxia Bank's headquarters, is scheduled for substantial completion by the end of 2026.
With a total building area of 191,200 square meters, the project consists of a 99.95-meter main tower, a 61.55-meter secondary tower, and a sky bridge. It is one of Beijing's "3 100" key projects, a landmark for the first batch of state-owned enterprise headquarters relocating to the Sub-Center, and has been designated as a demonstration project for ultra-low energy consumption buildings. The building's form follows the Huaxia Bank corporate logo, the "C-shaped Thunder Pattern," featuring a unitized glass curtain wall system covering 120,000 square meters, comprised of 7,696 individual panels and 15 differentiated curtain wall systems using over 100 material types.
Photovoltaic modules are installed on the facade from the fifth floor upwards, on the roof, and in the connection areas between the towers and the sky bridge. A total of 13,000 photovoltaic glass panels, both monocrystalline silicon and cadmium telluride types, are integrated. The photovoltaic system is designed in coordination with the building's nighttime landscape lighting. At night, it can illuminate the Huaxia Bank logo, creating a soft, uniform luminous effect with vertical light strips, facade light curtains, and external spotlights. This enhances the nighttime cityscape of the Canal Business District and enriches the visual layers of the Sub-Center's skyline.
The project employs an active breathing double-layer, four-pane, three-cavity curtain wall system, paired with the first polyurethane thermal insulation profile frame used in a large-scale public building in China. Temperature and humidity sensors are embedded within the curtain wall cavity, which can automatically circulate air through mechanical systems to actively regulate the external wall temperature, significantly reducing air conditioning energy consumption. To meet the stringent airtightness requirements of an ultra-low energy building, the construction team uses multiple techniques including BIM virtual pre-assembly, full-area scanning, ultrasonic testing, and blower door airtightness testing, controlling panel splicing and sealing with millimeter-level precision to overcome challenges such as irregular corners and large-panel hoisting.
External construction is now complete. Approximately 1,200 workers are focused on interior work, including finishing, electrical and weak current conduit installation, HVAC mechanical and electrical installation, noise control, and intelligent system deployment. As a headquarters-grade financial office building, the project has given special consideration to the need for quiet and confidentiality in business negotiation, office, and closed meeting areas. Noise control is a core management focus for mechanical and electrical installation. Unlike conventional office buildings, all through-wall ventilation ducts are equipped with professional silencers, avoiding simple glass wool wrapping. For noise-sensitive areas like offices and meeting rooms, all mechanical and electrical pipes are routed through corridors to prevent direct transmission of pipe vibration and airflow noise into the core office spaces.
Officials from the Tongzhou District Major Project Coordination Service Center stated that the Huaxia Bank headquarters project is a key carrier for promoting the concentration of municipal financial institution headquarters in the Sub-Center and building a Canal Business financial cluster. The project integrates multiple new green and intelligent construction technologies, serving as a regional demonstration model for ultra-low energy buildings and complementing the Sub-Center's high-end financial industry support. In the future, this financial headquarters building, which integrates power generation, self-ventilation, and intelligent maintenance, will become a new landmark in the Sub-Center, offering both industrial function and urban landscape value.
