On August 31, information from the Ministry of Natural Resources indicated that among the typical illegal and non-compliant cases reported in the first quarter, four have completed rectification, investigation, and accountability procedures. For other issues, on-site rectification has been finalized, and related case leads have been transferred to disciplinary inspection and supervision departments.
In one case, the government of Huanglin Township, Yudu County, Jiangxi Province, was found to have led and facilitated the illegal extraction of 596,000 tonnes of kaolin under the pretext of comprehensive erosion control for gully headcuts. The public security authorities have filed a case for investigation, detained the individuals involved, and transferred the case to the procuratorate for public prosecution. The local government has since organized ecological and environmental comprehensive remediation efforts.
The then township party secretary received a serious warning within the party and was removed from their post. The then deputy party secretary and township head received a warning within the party, the then township leader in charge was given an admonishing talk, and the director of the Huanglin Township Sub-Center of the County Natural Resources Comprehensive Service Center received a major demerit record in government affairs. Additionally, the then party secretary and director of the Yudu County Natural Resources Bureau, who had other serious disciplinary and legal violations, has been lawfully detained.
