Tencent has released a report on its cash red packet campaign distributing 1 billion yuan. The report indicates that from the campaign's launch on February 1st until midnight on the 17th, the main event page recorded over 3.6 billion total draws. Users completed more than 1 billion AI-based tasks through the 'Create' section.
Users from third and fourth-tier cities and below accounted for 49% of the active participants grabbing red packets. The fastest time for claiming red packets was daily at midnight, as users delayed sleep to wait for the new day's offerings. Sharing proved popular, with over 34 million people receiving red packets shared by others. Shared red packets were claimed more than 210 million times, and over 21 million shared packets were fully collected by friends. "Have you exchanged yet?" became a popular phrase on social platforms. The rare 10,000-yuan "Little Horse Card" sparked a frenzy, with the first card being revealed just 44 seconds after midnight on February 1st. On Lunar New Year's Eve, 100 "New Little Horse Cards" were released and fully claimed within 8 hours.
Over the 16-day period, blessing-themed red packets were successfully unlocked more than 64 million times. The activities ranged from words containing "horse" to fill-in-the-blanks, poetry recitation, music questions, and math and physics problems, adding fun to the red packet hunt. Many users enthusiastically participated by singing "Tao Ma Gan" to the Yuanbao assistant or shouting "giddy-up" to unlock voice-command red packets. Unexpectedly, user-invented blessings like "Ma Dongmei," "Ma Baoguo," and "Ma Yinglong" went viral, adding surprise and humor to the campaign.
Within the AI social feature Yuanbao Pai, surprise red packets were distributed over 11 million times. Among participants in this feature, 47% were from third and fourth-tier cities and below.
In the Yuanbao 'Create' section, users showcased their creativity with over 1 billion AI-assisted creations, crafting their own New Year traditions. Users under 20 favored the 'Inspiration' and 'Fun Recreation' tools to generate imaginative pictures, making meme battles a new way to exchange greetings. Users aged 30-40 preferred the 'New Year Moments' template, with golden social media posts perhaps representing adult New Year prestige. Among all creation templates, "Money Full Bag" was universally popular across all age groups, followed by "Spring Festival Horse Fu Character" and "This User is Getting Rich," demonstrating a shared focus on prosperity.
