Shares of RTX Corp surged 6.27% during intraday trading on Thursday, extending pre-market gains after the aerospace and defense giant reported second-quarter results that handily beat Wall Street expectations and raised its full-year outlook across the board.
The company posted adjusted earnings of $1.89 per share, a 21% jump from the prior year and well above the analyst consensus of $1.66. Revenue climbed 14% to $24.71 billion, exceeding forecasts of $22.89 billion. Organic sales growth reached 16%, driven by double-digit increases across all three business segments—Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon.
RTX also lifted its 2026 guidance, now projecting adjusted EPS in a range of $7.10 to $7.25, up from $6.70 to $6.90, and sales of $95 billion to $96 billion, compared with the prior $92.5 billion to $93.5 billion. The company cited sustained demand for commercial aircraft maintenance and repair services, as airlines keep older jets flying, along with robust defense orders as governments replenish weapons stockpiles. Total backlog rose 22% year-over-year to a record $289 billion, reflecting $170 billion in commercial orders and $119 billion in defense contracts.
