According to informed sources, BHP Billiton intends to adopt a wait-and-see approach regarding the acquisition talks between Rio Tinto and Glencore and currently has no plans to submit a competing bid.
Informed sources stated that BHP Billiton views Glencore's business as not complementary to its own. The company has expressed no interest in Glencore's trading division or its coal assets and believes that Anglo American's copper business unit is a superior alternative.
