Dave & Buster's Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ: PLAY) experienced a 24-hour plunge of 10.96% on Monday, with the decline accelerating in post-market trading following the release of its first-quarter fiscal 2026 financial results.

The sharp sell-off was triggered by the company reporting significantly weaker-than-expected quarterly performance. Dave & Buster's posted adjusted earnings of $0.22 per share, missing the analyst consensus estimate of $0.61 by 63.93% and representing a 71.05% decrease from the $0.76 per share reported in the same period last year. Revenue fell 1.5% year-over-year to $559.2 million, also missing the $580.5 million analyst expectation. Comparable store sales declined 5.4% versus the same calendar period a year earlier, worse than the 1.2% decline analysts had anticipated.

CEO Tarun Lal acknowledged that "first quarter results fell short of expectations" but expressed confidence in the company's turnaround strategy, stating the goal to generate over $100 million in free cash flow for fiscal 2026. The stock's extended trading session decline reflected investor disappointment with the quarterly performance and concerns about the company's near-term prospects amid declining comparable sales.
